Richy Barrass, who is out in Dubai, has organised a run out there to aid raising funds for the DB10K. He reports:
"We had a really fantastic day yesterday at the 1st TGV ( Tabuk Garden Village ) 10k fun run/walk. There were 37 entry's, age group 36 to 60 years of mixed nationalities. The
course was flat mostly track road. The weather was very hot with a welcome breeze.
The winners for the men were: Derek Carlton 49.35, Pete Broughton 51.53 & Lee Grainger 52.13. The winners for the ladies were: Shelly Philips 49.36, Sally Twelvetrees 59.45 & Niki Wilde. I came in 4th in the mens event, or 5th overall at 56.13, & my legs are aching.
I've still got to count the funds raised from the entry fees plus money raised at the BBQ & rewards ceremony afterwards. I'm expecting something near £500. The gold medallists received a Nike sports bag. All medallists also got souvenir caps. There were also prizes for fancy dress, the youngest & the oldest runners.
Everyone enjoyed the day & most of them said they were looking forward to next years run, as it is now an annual event.
Photographs were taken on the day which I'll email to you in a couple of days, as soon as I get them."
Richy will be coming back from Dubai at the end of the month to take part in the DB10K event, and is really looking forward to it.
